Jeff Woolgar and Ann Stone
Two examples of the ˝d stamps of Great Britain on an envelope addressed to Dynevor House, Richmond Hill, Surrey. Both stamps are tied by a single strike of the Wimbledon squared circle datestamp, for 25th December 1895. (Note that the year ‘95’ is in up-side –down.)
This envelope probably contained a Christmas card as it was posted as a special delivery, to arrive on Christmas day. It would therefore appear that Mr. and Mrs. Head were spending Christmas day 1895, at Richmond.
Albert Alfred Head died on 31st on October 1928, aged 84 years. Burial at Richmond Old Burial Ground on 5November 1928.
