South Africa General Mission

An Introduction

Jeff Woolgar

'The Cape General Mission' was founded on the 12th March 1889. It was from this organization, that 'The English Council' arranged to combine the Cape General Mission, with the short lived 'Southeast Africa Evangelistic Mission' (Zululand / Natal). Thus establishing 'The South Africa General Mission'. William Spencer Walton returned to South Africa from England in September 1894, accompanied by three new workers, to start a new chapter in the missions’ work. In the coming years, the 'Firstfruits in Swazieland’ were achieved as they expanded their work in southern Africa.
