Jim Ward enjoying his pipe, possibly at the house which Alf C. Ward and Hilda set up in the Brixton / Camberwell area.
Although he was called Jim by the Wards and by his first wife, he was known as 'James' to his second family.
Going by the surviving postcards, Jim and Millie thought a lot of Alf as he was invited to Teddington:
Amelia Elizabeth Breare, known as Millie was born in 1889 at Brixton and married Jim.
In 1911 they were living in Stanley Gardens Road, Teddington. They had two children, Alice A (Amelia?) born second quarter of 1911 and Alfred Ernest born second quarter of 1913.

The newspaper cutting picture shows Ernest Ward aboard the Royal Navy training Ship, Arethusa, off
north Kent. He was later promoted to Lieutenant Commander and served during Second World War.
