Soldier Quarantine Letter

A period of quarantine was the norm for British forces in the early days of the century. As a maritime nation it was an insurance to prevent infection of diseases from around the world. Here it was a period of at least seven days. As James Robinson was working at Military Hospitals it must have been a routine for him every time he moved from one army base to another.

Entering the postal service where it was controlled by at 27mm double circle datestamp at Pretoria on the 27^th November 1907. The Transvaal, King Edward VII scarlet one penny postage stamp being the rate to the UK.
