Two, one penny and a half-penny, South Africa Republic postage stamps, make up the 2˝d, rate to the British Isles. They are tied by two Darkton double circle datestamps in black, and are dated 31st December 1896. On the reverse are two datestamps, one for Pretoria and a Wimbledon single circle, arrival datestamp, for 23rd January 1897.
The adhesive postage stamps were printed by Enschedé & Sons, in the Netherlands, and have the values in green. They were first issued in the South African Republic during 1896.
