Cover addressed to Mrs. Head from F. Nixon

Addressed to Mrs Head.
The sender in Cape Colony had not been identified in 2010 when the research was first undertaken. However, while Mr and Mrs Head were at the Cape of Good Hope during 1893 she recorded in her diary: “Wednesday, November1st. – We left Cape Town at 12.30 by train to Rondebosch, a very pretty suburb on the other side of Table Mountain, where we had been invited to stay at Sir Gordon Sprigg’s. . . . It was a pleasure to see Mrs. Nixon’s home. . Lady Sprigg had ordered a carriage and pair to take us a most beautiful drive to Hout’s Nek, a high pass between Table Mountain and other hills.”
It is apparent that this must be same Mrs. Nixon who later was the sender of the cover illustrated here. Nevertheless, more research is required.
