Hilda Ada Tanner born 17th March, 1895.

Hilda was born Ivydale Road, Peckham on 17th March 1895. Her Brothers were Robert (eldest), Fred (middle) and Walter (youngest). She also had two sisters, Mabel Elizabeth and Bessie Anne. Most if not all the girls went into service. Hilda was 12 years old when her Father died. Later she worked for a builder; she did typing and there is a photograph of the workmen. She married Alfred Charles Ward during 1920. They had two girls, Joan Margaret Ward and Doris Hilda Ward. She later worked at Greliers a butchers and a sweet shop on the corner of Kennington Park Road and Cottington Street*. At one time they used to slaughter and there is a story of a pig escaping and Hilda ran after it. When the lease run out on 2 Braganza Street she and Alf went to live at 64 De Laune Street. She died during November 1958.
* Cottington Street was later (1990s?) amputated and is no longer adjacent to Kennington Park Road.
